# Managing Modifiers

> Modifiers allow you to further customize items based on your guests preferences during service.

## Managing Modifiers

A Modifier Group, like "Optional Mixer," consists of additional options that can be added to a menu item. Modifier groups can be created & edited in the Menu & Categories section of the Settings page in the DQ CMS.

Here’s how to edit these groups:

| Property        | Description                                     | required |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | -------- |
| Name            | The name as it will appear on the menu.         | yes      |
| Description     | A brief description of the item.                | no       |
| Selection Rules | How we will manage the selection.               | yes      |
| Modifiers List  | The List of available modifiers to the selector | no       |

Each modifier can have its own settings and can be applied to an item from the Menu page in the DQ CMS.
